We are pleased to introduce the enhanced version of Dornenglanz III. In its ox form, it is now notably more adept at blocking balls than its predecessor. This new iteration boasts a slightly increased speed compared to the previous version, prompting us to assign it a speed rating of 3 instead of 2.5.
The visual appearance of both the old and new versions remains identical, and we will cease the sale of the first version immediately. Dornenglanz III's rubber compound incorporates numerous artificial polymers, rendering the base softer and more elastic than other long pimples from SpinLord. The knobs, which are remarkably robust, have a slightly broader profile compared to other long knobs from SpinLord. The distance between the pimples is average, and the cylindrical knobs feature a small conical reinforcement on the knob bottom with finely fluted heads.
Dornenglanz III demonstrates a noticeable decrease in speed compared to previously available long knobs from SpinLord, aligning closely with the tempo of barbed fire. When compared to the slow Lion Claw, Dornenglanz III offers a distinct playing experience due to its significantly higher elasticity and softer rubber compound. It proves to be more versatile, with a shorter and more dangerous ball flight curve.
Designed for an active and aggressive style of play, Dornenglanz III is particularly well-suited for playing at the table. The improved version excels in playing both active and passive blockballs. In this context, its playing behavior closely resembles the zeitgeist while outperforming it in other strokes. In ox, the classic backspin defense is viable and threatening.
For classic defenders, the version with a sponge enhances the effectiveness of backspin defense, providing a good option. The sponge version is only marginally faster than the ox version, with slightly reduced control. While the ox version remains superior for playing block balls, the sponge version is notably weaker in this aspect.
The sponge utilized is a slow and soft "Made in China" sponge, ensuring that even in 1.0 mm, Dornenglanz III remains slower than other long pimple rubbers in ox. Compatible with almost all types of wood, Dornenglanz III maintains high control values, making it suitable for players in lower leagues.
We believe that players who have found satisfaction with rubbers like the Zeitgeist or the Stachelfeuer will appreciate the improvements in the new version of Dornenglanz III. Even players who appreciate the thorny appearance but find them challenging to play should consider trying this rubber.
