Crafted to perfection by master craftsmen in tribute to the Swedish legends, the World Champion 89 blade series exemplifies our finest quality, proudly made in Germany. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Sweden's triumph in winning the World Championships Team title in Dortmund in 1989, where they secured a historic 5-0 final win against China, DONIC exclusively produces three new blades as a tribute to the legends Jan-Ove Waldner, Jörgen Persson, and Mikael Appelgren.
These handcrafted blades showcase top-notch workmanship and leverage the most modern precision and technical know-how, acknowledging the supreme mastery exhibited by the Swedish superstars. All three models feature an Italian Spruce ply aged over 200 years, paired with a 3mm strong center veneer of Kiri. The Appelgren All+ model includes Ayous combined with a new Carbonfleece Zylong webbing (CF2), exclusive to DONIC. Utilizing the finest saw plies from our own production, known for their stability, ensures that the blade retains its playing characteristics without normal deterioration.
A specially developed drying procedure reduces the moisture content from 12 to 16% to only 4%, resulting in a stable and lightweight blade. The Waldner and Persson blades weigh approximately 85g, while the Appelgren All+ blade weighs only around 80g. Each individual blade undergoes a special cold press for 24 hours. Our unique 3D-technology and the latest bio-technology guarantee that the handle is in perfect shape. This fast blade offers great feel and ease of control, designed for players seeking a balance between speed and control.
