Crafted to perfection by top craftsmen in tribute to Swedish legends, the World Champion 89 blade series represents our finest quality, proudly made in Germany. Marking the 25th anniversary of Sweden's historic World Championships Team title in Dortmund in 1989 (clinching a 5-0 final win against China), DONIC exclusively produces three new blades honoring Jan-Ove Waldner, Jörgen Persson, and Mikael Appelgren.
These handcrafted blades showcase the latest precision and technical know-how, paying homage to the supreme mastery exhibited by the Swedish superstars. All three models feature an Italian Spruce ply aged over 200 years, paired with a 3mm strong center veneer of Kiri. The Appelgren All+ model includes Ayous combined with a new Carbonfleece Zylong webbing (CF2), exclusive to DONIC. Utilizing the finest saw plies from our own production, known for their stability, ensures that the blade retains its playing characteristics without normal deterioration.
A specially developed drying procedure reduces the moisture content from 12-16% to only 4%, resulting in stable and lightweight blades. The Waldner and Persson blades weigh approximately 85g, while the Appelgren All+ blade weighs only around 80g. Each blade undergoes a 24-hour cold press, and our unique 3D-technology and recent bio-technology guarantee that the handle is in perfect shape. The fastest among the new blades, designed for players requiring a harder blade with basic high speed.
