The World Champion 89 blade series, our epitome of quality, pays homage to the Swedish legends with top-notch craftsmanship, proudly made in Germany. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Sweden's triumphant World Championships Team title in Dortmund in 1989, where they secured a historic 5-0 final win against China, DONIC has exclusively crafted three new blades in honor of the legendary trio: Jan-Ove Waldner, Jörgen Persson, and Mikael Appelgren.
These blades are meticulously handcrafted, utilizing the latest precision and technical expertise as a tribute to the supreme mastery displayed by the Swedish superstars. Incorporating an Italian Spruce ply that boasts a rich history of over 200 years, each blade features a 3mm strong center veneer of Kiri. The Appelgren All+ model, in addition to Ayous, includes a new Carbonfleece Zylong webbing (CF2), exclusively developed for DONIC. We use only the finest saw plies from our own production, known for their stability, ensuring that the blade retains its playing characteristics without the typical deterioration.
To enhance stability and reduce moisture content, a specialized drying procedure is employed, reducing it from 12-16% to only 4%. This results in a stable and lightweight blade, with the Waldner and Persson blades weighing approximately 85g and the Appelgren All+ blade weighing only around 80g. Each individual blade undergoes a special 24-hour cold press. Leveraging our unique 3D-technology and cutting-edge bio-technology, we ensure that the handle is perfectly shaped. These blades are ideal for players of all types, regardless of their skill level, offering a perfect light all-round blade.
