Stiga Cybershape Carbon review: the hexagon blade, explained
Specs, feel and who should play the 5+2 CCF Cybershape

Stiga's Cybershape Carbon is the blade that made a hexagon legal and popular. It is Truls Moregard's blade family and Tin-Tin Ho's blade, and it is now one of the most recognised blades in the sport.

What the shape does

The hexagonal head moves more surface area out towards the top corners, which is where Stiga says the larger sweet spot sits. The trade-off is a different feel: the blade looks and swings unlike a round blade, and most players need a few sessions to adjust their contact point.

The carbon

Stiga's CCF (Carbon Composite Fibre) is set next to the core, under the wood, rather than just under the outer ply. That keeps the outer layers wooden for touch while the carbon adds stiffness and speed. On paper it is a fast OFF+ blade, but not a harsh one.

Rubber pairings

Moregard pairs the family with Helix Platinum XH; Tin-Tin Ho uses DNA Platinum H on her backhand. Both are hard, modern tensors that suit the blade's speed.

Who it suits

Intermediate to advanced attackers who already have sound technique and want a fast carbon blade with a forgiving top section. Beginners should start with an all-wood all-round blade.

Our verdict

A fast, modern inner-carbon blade whose unusual shape is a genuine design choice, not a gimmick. Worth trying if you play close to the table and like a big sweet spot.
