South Korea's Lim Jong-hoon left WTT China Smash in Beijing with two doubles titles, while China's Wang Manyu and Kuai Man successfully defended the women's doubles crown.
On 9 October Lim and Shin Yu-bin beat Chinese Taipei's Lin Yun-ju and Cheng I-ching 3-2 in a 58-minute mixed doubles final (12-14, 11-9, 16-18, 13-11, 11-8). Four of the five games went to extra points or close to it, and the Koreans lost the third 16-18 before winning the last two.
A day later Lim was back on Table 1 with Oh Jun-sung and beat France's Alexis and Felix Lebrun 3-1 (11-8, 5-11, 11-9, 11-9) in the men's doubles final. The Lebruns had beaten China's Wen Ruibo and Yuan Licen in the semi-finals, while the Korean pair dropped no games against India's Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah.
In the women's doubles final Wang Manyu and Kuai Man beat Japan's Miwa Harimoto and Hina Hayata 3-1 (13-11, 11-2, 9-11, 11-7) in 38 minutes to keep the title they won last year. "I felt delighted to win the doubles title again with Manyu," Kuai told Xinhua. Wang went on to win the women's singles the next day, so China finished with two of the five titles and South Korea with two.
Felix Lebrun's week did not end there: a week later he won the European singles title in Ljubljana, and both brothers are on home soil at WTT Champions Montpellier from 27 October.
