France's Félix Lebrun is the new European men's singles champion. The 20-year-old top seed beat Sweden's Anton Källberg 4-3 (7-11, 11-9, 13-11, 8-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-1) at Arena Stožice in Ljubljana on 18 October.
Källberg led 3-2 and was one game from the title. Lebrun said he then dropped his tactical plan: "At 3-2, I told my coach that we had a tactical plan, but I wasn't serving well enough to execute it. So I said, let's forget about the tactics, just fight." He took the sixth 11-6 and the decider 11-1.
It was his second gold of the week. A day earlier he and his brother Alexis successfully defended the men's doubles, beating Källberg and Kristian Karlsson 3-2. Félix also succeeds Alexis, who won the singles in Linz in 2024.
France's Léo De Nodrest and Germany's Dang Qiu took bronze.
