Chris Tam named World Table Tennis managing director as CEO search ends
WTT Board chooses continuity after the Infront marketing deal

ITTF chief operations officer Chris Tam has been appointed managing director of World Table Tennis (WTT), the ITTF's events and commercial company. The appointment was announced on 19 October.

The WTT Board, chaired by ITTF President Petra Sörling, confirmed the decision at its meeting during WTT China Smash. Tam keeps his ITTF role, and the Board has closed its search for a chief executive. SportBusiness and Sportcal both reported the move as WTT staying in-house rather than appointing a new CEO.

The ITTF says an acting leadership model put in place in May has delivered: all 2026 WTT events have been held, the 2027 calendar has been published, prize money was protected, and WTT expects to finish 2026 in a much stronger financial position.

The Infront deal

Part of that story is a strategic partnership with Infront, announced on 28 September. Infront becomes global lead agency for the marketing rights of the ITTF and WTT under an agreement that runs to 2034, leading partnership sales across the WTT Series.

What's next on court

WTT Champions Montpellier runs from 27 October to 1 November, the Lebrun brothers' home city.
