Wanokiwami is a distinctive collaboration between Takeshi Wanaka, a highly acclaimed Japanese carpenter renowned for working with premium woods, and the andro® development team. Wanaka, an expert in his field with numerous international awards, contributed his expertise in selecting, processing, and bonding premium wood to this unique project. The andro® development team granted Wanaka creative freedom, allowing influences from another wood processing branch to shape the project. Impressively, the andro® team skillfully incorporated these influences and ideas, resulting in a blade line of exceptional quality.
Promotional players, coaches, and test players, through numerous tests, unanimously confirmed the outstanding quality of Wanokiwami blades. Wanokiwami Midori stands out as the masterpiece among andro® defensive woods, meticulously processed to meet the specific needs of defensive players. It fulfills all the requirements of a modern defender, with a development focus on achieving a balance between attack and defense.
The primary objective was to create a blade that offers optimal control at a moderate pace without compromising power during attacks. Wanokiwami Midori successfully achieved this balance by incorporating a relatively thick core veneer, complemented by extremely thin intermediate and outer veneers. The core veneer contributes power, while the soft outer layers ensure stable control and the necessary feeling. The result is a blade that weighs 86 grams, demonstrating a successful synergy between craftsmanship and modern table tennis requirements.
